Desk bike

Start slowly with a desk bike: start with short sessions of 15 minutes per hour and build up slowly. Avoid intense workouts at first to avoid overexertion. Use the desk bike as an alternation tool, and do not combine it with fine motor work such as typing or mousing. How do I get started with the desk bike?

The biggest mistake you can make is to spend many hours on a desk bike. You immediately exhaust yourself, while your body is not yet used to so much exercise. You will find that cycling on a desk bike has a big impact on your body in the beginning. With short exercises, you will soon make great progress.

What can you do with your desk bike?

Are you really not used to exercising? Then do not sit on a desk bike for more than an hour a day for the first few days. As mentioned, don't start a very intense workout right away. You don't have to achieve peak performance within two weeks. Start with about just 15 minutes per session to a maximum of 1.5 hours per day total. Then you can slowly start building up a cycling schedule: if this has gone well, now take the next step. Now try cycling a little longer and turning the resistance knob a little tighter.

Use the desk bike as an alternate tool and avoid typing or mousing while cycling.

We prefer to use a desk bike only in a relaxed position and not to match coarse cycling movements with fine motor use of keyboard and mouse. Our brains cannot combine fine motor movements with large motor movements, so you will soon start mousing/typing frenetically. Rather use the desk bike during a phone call, online training or webinary.

When do I use a desk bike?

Often, because you've resolved to take regular breaks and exercise, right? That's the handy thing about a desk bike. You do have a sit-stand desk to get the right height for the best posture. Swap the desk bike with ouw ergonomic desk chair or stand up to keep fit and moving.

Desk bikes are available in many colors and in sizes small, medium and large.
